How to Install Flashed Roof Attachments

Watertight attachments protect the customer’s roof for decades. In short: locate; lift; drill, then complete the remaining steps below.
Step by step
Locate rafters using a stud finder or by probing, and mark attachment points per the layout.
Lift the shingle above the attachment point carefully.
Drill pilot holes into the center of the rafter.
Apply sealant as specified by the manufacturer.
Slide flashing under the upper shingle course and fasten the mount with the specified lag bolt and torque.
Check that the shingles lie flat and the flashing sheds water correctly.

- Treat PV conductors as energized whenever light is present
- Prevent heat illness with water, rest and shade
- Lift panels with a partner and in safe weather conditions
