How to Install Flashing and Weeps in Brick Veneer
Water always gets behind brick; flashing and weeps let it out.
Quick answer
Water always gets behind brick; flashing and weeps let it out. In short: install; extend; lay, then complete the remaining steps below.
Step by step
Install flashing at the base of the wall and above openings, lapped up the backup wall.
Extend flashing past the face of the brick and form end dams at openings.
Lay the first course of brick on the flashing.
Install weep vents in head joints about every 24 inches or as specified.
Keep the air space clear of mortar droppings with mesh or careful work.
