Day in the life
A Day in the Life of a Lifeguard
What lifeguards actually do from the start of a shift to the end: the tasks, tools, schedule and realities of the job.
Perform an opening safety check of the pool and rescue equipment. From there, the day usually includes scan assigned zones continuously, enforce pool and beach rules, and perform water rescues. Many jobs are seasonal and part-time, with weekend and summer hours. Year-round indoor pools offer more steady work.
